Afropension and Afrobeats entered a bar.. Leaf 3, Vol 1.

A disaster walks out. Or a HIT?

Hello {{first.name/ChilliP}}

How are you doing? Welcome to another week of pepper, spice and everything nice!

Insider info: My editor was a lil worried that we might not have a lot to talk about in this edition of the newsletter. I was like in this entertainment industry???? Things will always occur! And bruhh, did they ocurrrrrrrrr!

But before going into this week’s gist, I want to welcome to all the new Chilli Ps that joined us last week! 👏🏽👏🏽

Welcome. Welcome. We are a little mad here, we love music and we love gossip.

You can invite more people to get in on the spice and subscribe to the newsletter by forwarding this mail.

That being said, let’s get into this week’s roundup.

The nightmare that is TweTwe.

So, before they dropped the full remix, Daddy Twins dropped a cover snippet of Daddy Triplet’s ‘TweTwe’ wearing something that looked like Igbo man’s couch cover.

But hey, his fashion choice is not the topic of interest here, the music is and I’m going to give my honest opinion on it: It was rubbish. When i first heard it.

After some replays the next day, I was dancing in my room, which is a little hilarious because Davido made this tweet.

Na selfhype sha tori kini yen marinate ni mehn.

But regardless of the likely success of this song might have because of the union of Afropension fans and 30BG, you still can’t disagree that ‘keke napepe’ and ‘diodido” are not wack lyrics bro.

And imo, one way to know this remix isn’t all that is that it doesn’t sound better. At best, it sounds the very same.

So much for the OD love Affair

#theseniggasthinkwestoopid

In a stupidly irritating turn of events, Pretty Boy Do and Odumodu are on good terms again and they dropped this stupid ass video of them laughing together.

Then DO said the entire brouhaha wasn’t for PR, saying Odumodu & Teezee apologised on a call yadayadayada.

We wish them the very best in their newly found love with each other. But this entire P with them has me pissed. Such a disappointing joke. 😏

BARBIES AND HORSES

In a rather side comment, there’s an ongoing diss war between Nicki Minaj and Meg Thee Stallion. I mean, it’s been going on for a while, but there’s a fresh layer coming from lyrics in Megan’s new Song HISS.

Megan put this in the new song

“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan,

they be mad at Megan’s law”

This is Megan’s law:

…and we all know Kenneth Petty is a registered sex offender. Nicki got mad and put out a diss track on her IG Live. it had these lines: 🥴

“Bad bitches like 6 foot,

I call her big foot”

basically referencing that Megan getting shot in the leg.

I am personally not involved and don’t care about their spat. All I know is comparing those two lines, bar for bar, the Barbz lost this one.

I meannnnnn, what are the chances that a law about registering sex offenders is called Megan’s freaking law!???? 🙊

She has released Big Foot though.

Let’s move on from this petty ass drama now shall we?

Remember that thing about Spotify?

Well, this Nigeria born, US based independent artist named Mannywellz: the voice behind Peace ft Tems, Oulala etc, says he’s sitting this one out.

In a series of twitter posts, he has said that he will not be dropping a huge percentage of his music on Spotify. Dude says he can’t devote to a full time job that pays him $0.003 dollars per stream.

And bro, I’d be mad if that was what I was earning as well. And it makes it 10x harder as a bootstrapped artist who isn’t making so money off shows yet.

He explains his process of making money and releasing music in this tweet.

What do you think of it? Is he stifling his own growth or he’s pioneering something monumental?

Btw, his birthday was some days ago, if you like him, check his new music out.

Ayra Starr is in the news and it’s not for short skirt

Asides new music and short skirt, Ayra Starr rarely stars in online drama, but the gods of rogbodiyan said they’ll dab her pretty tresses in some drama and they did!

This is the short version of the whole story: A video showed up online that showed that whilst exchanging pleasantries, she ‘snubbed’ Mama Burna, shook hands with King Sunny Ade and then wrapped it up by calling KSA ‘Uncle’

Whilst they got over Mama Burna part because she cleared it up, awa Yoruba gatekeepers of the ancestral forest have been railing on her for calling KSA Uncle, calling her uncultured and all that.

My own is that you people will be alright…because all that rancour is a little crazy to me and giving obsessed.

Plus, she dropped this for you guys.
